Is it? The older Flatcaps (if memory serves) were a toroid, a cheapo encapsulated bridge rectifier and an LM317T (circuit straight off the data sheet) shoved up the corner of an expensive box. What it does do it take the preamp out of the power amp power supply equation which makes a difference but it’s hardly the last word in circuit design. Least ways the old one wasn’t.
