Topic: DAC driversPosted: 28 Jul 2013 at 9:33pm |

I just got a new computer running Windows 8 and the driver I have for my USB DAC doesn't seem to support this OS. And from the looks of their website it seems that the maker of my DAC has gone out of business, as no links to their products or how to get in touch with them work and hasn't for quite some time. So not much hope in getting a driver update there from in other words. Does anyone know of any other solution that might work? Could a driver for a different DAC perhaps work or is it impossibe?

Yes it might come to that if I can't get it to work but I'm hoping I can keep my old DAC really. It was a good performer and the puny age of 2 years shouldn't make a £400 unit completely obsolete. There has got to be some other solution I reckon

You should be able to load Windows 7 drivers in Windows 8 for such applications.

Yet somehow I can't seem to.
Now what was wrong with Windows 7 exactly? I consider it vastly superior to the confusion and awkwardness that is Windows 8. Progress for progress' sake? |

Perhaps Microsoft have never heard of the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Does seem that chasing progress for it's own sake underlies many businesses these days. We aren't necessarily any the richer for their progress.
I upgraded from 7 to 8, underneath the Apps opening page, back on the desktop it's just like Windows 7, so much so I wonder if it is just 7. Accordingly I manage to load drivers for both 7 and 8. Don't know if a new build loaded primarily with Windows 8 behaves differently. |

Great ad for the Bitzie... only £350 and takes to Windows 8 without searching for downloads! (sorry, it must be my age long frustration with being generally ignored... not vented at anybody here) |
