I have just finished rewiring 12 Open Back speaker drivers with unterminated Spatia cable which John C kindly sold me yesterday. A bugger of a job as there are 20 pieces of cable in varying lengths, the outer insulation had to be stripped, the soldering iron gave up the ghost halfway through (ie a trip to Maplins) and I had to do the work in situ on the floor. My music room now looks like a workshop Shocked

Anyway it's done so I can burn these in whilst I await 4 pairs of Spatia speaker cable and long Lautus for the subs. This is going to be fun!

A logical move - to keep the cable to the same standard from amp to drive units makes sense.
I'll be interested to see how the sound improves after burn in. Do you find the type and quality of the beer has a particular influence on the various improvements you have made?

It's early days obviously but what I clearly noticed last night was vinyl surface noise & faint flecks of dust moving into a different place in the soundstage, kind of 'remote' from the music. Instead of being part of the same plane it now seems to be almost 'out of phase' ie no longer mixed in with the signal but floating in the air with indistinct placement . This was apparent on all 3 albums I played & I like this ! (not getting carried away... clicks and scratches are still where they were)

Treble sounds somewhat smoother to my ears which I suppose comes from replacing silver coated copper cable with Spatia. I know the sound signature of my system pretty well so I will be able to comment further over time

I haven't enthused much about the Spatia speaker cable but I will say that it is full of little surprises like Drewan has witnessed. Added together all these subtleties do make a profound difference to the way we hear our music. All I think they're doing is somehow cutting out the trash so the finer points that were there all-along, come through. Maybe it's the low memory? Maybe it's the low capacitance? Maybe speaker cables don't have to be butch? And maybe cable direction has something to do with it also?

Stereo is a wondrous concept that I believe can be taken much further than most people thought possible. If left to a particular school of thought that's been propagated around the world it would simply be about loudness and "authority" (or PRaT), but stereo is more than that. Unfortunately for the masses stereo is the "umph tcha umph tcha" gyrator so often heard emanating from motor vehicles, farmland, historic parks and woodland, plus open windows, in an otherwise gorgeous British summer.

Thanks to our customers and owner's club members having such good tastes there is this small pocket of society where there is more to life - thank God!

Graham, I have to say thank you too - I love what your equipment is doing to my system, phono amp, cables, interconnects etc.  It makes me want to keep supporting your company and like others here, I am learning to trust your skills implicitly. You also talk sense in an increasingly bland, margin obsessed corporate world.

Yes, 2 channel stereo can be wondrous, holographic and true to life. I like being part of the small community that appreciates that and it's lovely to see the reaction one of 'the masses' gives when they hear it for the first time.

Meeting John, interacting with you and finding a business that is all about integrity and taking customer feedback is truly inspiring.
