After a favourable review in a hifi mag, I bought a pair for my main system and was blown away by the improvement for a mere £55. Inserted between phono lead and power amp.
I thought, for a giggle, I'd try with my headphone and Ultra Linear setup - surely no great improvement possible - wrong! Everything was better, by a noticeable extent. ![]() I don't know what these things do/how they work, but, to my ears at least, they are an absolute bargain if you are looking for that extra bit of performance. Would be interested if anyone else out there has tried them in their set ups. |

Is this in conjunction with our Cusat50's or another interconnect?

I'm skeptical.
Surely if you were "blown" away by the difference you would have no problem perceiving the differences in a DBT. Edited by Zemlya - 01 Aug 2012 at 5:09am |

As you have every right to be, however, I have yet to see where a demand for DBT "proof" has resulted in fruitful discussion. On the contrary, it usually leads to acrimony and circular argument. This forum has so far been largely free of such and I for one would like to see that continue. |

Maybe so. However, I am not asking for "proof" but rather a healthy level of skepticism from fellow members. It is easy enough for people to test these products for themselves in a manner that is objective. Otherwise you risk being hoodwinked.

The website presses so many of the "snake oil" buttons it's difficult not to be sceptical. I'm willing to be convinced on the basis of an explanation of the effect on the cable, in electrical terms. But I doubt, somehow, that one will be forthcoming.

There are many tricks I am able to do to make things sound different and "nice". I have tried these differences out on John C and Leo and the occasional visitor. All-in-all they enjoy these differences and all of us think they're better... for a while. Later however, we find things missing... certain pieces don't gel like they did. Others don't give that "rush" or that particular rim shot has disappeared etc.
Farting around with physics (and the brain's chemistry) can be fun and for those bored out of their sculls because something is wrong system wise that they can't be bothered to fix, or "Oh, it can't be that because it's a so and so that's highly regarded by..." which they stubbornly cling to, then such magical offerings can give them a fix. In my youth I had never heard such wonderful music from a mono Philips portable cassette recorder than when I was tripped out of my head on LSD... I even found that by pulling the tape out of the cassette and screwing it up, then winding it back in - some of it playing through the substrate then flipping back, it gave me an even more intense thrill. I then found that by "engineering in" drop-outs by splicing broken cassette tape with cheap insulating tape took me to the next level of highs... All this worked just as well on friends who were also tripped out of their heads. After giving up such recreational mind bending drugs, which almost everybody did in those psychedelic flower power days of the 70s, I realised how crap those cassettes really sounded (and most so called hi-fi of the day) and decided to create audio gear which gave those highs within proper specifications to those not on drugs, and of a stable mind. Magic doesn't exist! It is, as most people will realise, a form of deception. It can be fun but watching the same magic trick over and over gets boring. Likewise........... |
