After a favourable review in a hifi mag, I bought a pair for my main system and was blown away by the improvement for a mere £55. Inserted between phono lead and power amp.

I thought, for a giggle, I'd try with my headphone and Ultra Linear setup - surely no great improvement possible - wrong!

Everything was better, by a noticeable extent.Tongue

I don't know what these things do/how they work, but, to my ears at least, they are an absolute bargain if you are looking for that extra bit of performance.

Would be interested if anyone else out there has tried them in their set ups.

Is this in conjunction with our Cusat50's or another interconnect?

I'm skeptical.

Surely if you were "blown" away by the difference you would have no problem perceiving the differences in a DBT.

Quote I'm skeptical.

As you have every right to be, however, I have yet to see where a demand for DBT "proof" has resulted in fruitful discussion.

On the contrary, it usually leads to acrimony and circular argument.

This forum has so far been largely free of such and I for one would like to see that continue.

Maybe so. However, I am not asking for "proof" but rather a healthy level of skepticism from fellow members. It is easy enough for people to test these products for themselves in a manner that is objective. Otherwise you risk being hoodwinked.

The website presses so many of the "snake oil" buttons it's difficult not to be sceptical.

I'm willing to be convinced on the basis of an explanation of the effect on the cable, in electrical terms. But I doubt, somehow, that one will be forthcoming.

There are many tricks I am able to do to make things sound different and "nice". I have tried these differences out on John C and Leo and the occasional visitor. All-in-all they enjoy these differences and all of us think they're better... for a while. Later however, we find things missing... certain pieces don't gel like they did. Others don't give that "rush" or that particular rim shot has disappeared etc.

Farting around with physics (and the brain's chemistry) can be fun and for those bored out of their sculls because something is wrong system wise that they can't be bothered to fix, or "Oh, it can't be that because it's a so and so that's highly regarded by..." which they stubbornly cling to, then such magical offerings can give them a fix.

In my youth I had never heard such wonderful music from a mono Philips portable cassette recorder than when I was tripped out of my head on LSD... I even found that by pulling the tape out of the cassette and screwing it up, then winding it back in - some of it playing through the substrate then flipping back, it gave me an even more intense thrill. I then found that by "engineering in" drop-outs by splicing broken cassette tape with cheap insulating tape took me to the next level of highs... All this worked just as well on friends who were also tripped out of their heads.

After giving up such recreational mind bending drugs, which almost everybody did in those psychedelic flower power days of the 70s, I realised how crap those cassettes really sounded (and most so called hi-fi of the day) and decided to create audio gear which gave those highs within proper specifications to those not on drugs, and of a stable mind.

Magic doesn't exist! It is, as most people will realise, a form of deception. It can be fun but watching the same magic trick over and over gets boring.

Likewise...........

Thanks to Marsh for sharing his find, I hope it continues to provide listening pleasure. I share tg's feelings about sharing our ideas on this community without challenging each other to provide evidence.

Yes, by all means send them your £55.

Yes, Graham - the Bullets were added between a Cusat50 and Ultra Linear Solo.

Apologies for having no 'technical' expertise regarding what the components do - all I can report is the impact on my ears - yes, totally subjective and no proof to offer!

The effect was totally unexpected in a very, very nice way, especially in revealing alot more of the little details that sometimes get hidden. They don't seem to add anything unwelcome to the sound and with my HD650's added more sparkle and life to the treble. I think the cliche is 'lifting the veil'.

For me, the best (value for money) tweak I have come across in 20 odd years of system building.

I've no problem with that.

The only way I know of removing "the veil" taken in this context is by inserting a series inductor which will kill any RF on the signal and an inductor would indeed fit those adapters, and their explanation tends to suggest that to the engineer. They do the same thing in those "cheap" Antiference TV aerial Y splitters to stop one TV interfering with another.

In development of equipment I don't use such things or similar, simply because I could end up with false solutions which didn't work for every customer. A fully shielded inductor is fine, but an inductor inside a piece of equipment can be very problematic (it is both a receiving and transmitting aerial).

A series inductor can also be a double edged sword - it all depends on the load being driven. Our designs are tested with all sorts of loads to ensure their stability, so, if these are indeed series inductors, then they may have side-effects with some gear.

Must try a similar marketing trick though. Maybe it would change my fortunes? Something on the lines of...

"Magical spell-binding three dimensional imaging"

Could also be worth the weeks of work to change the website to black - black seems to pull the customers better than our boring old informative no BS website....

I think that's what gets my goat more than the actual product.
