I do have an all Cyrus setup, except that the CD dAD3 has been defective/repaired several times (skipping badly from halfway CD playtime).
I bought a Marantz CD5001 more than a year ago, which sounds very good overall.
But when I reconnected my dAD3 again a few weeks ago, I came to the conclusion that I needed?, no wanted a Cyrus CDplayer again, so ............... here it is. I just ordered/bought a model2008/x-demo/reprocessed Cyrus CD8SE at an official Cyrusdealer/Hifi shop in GB.
Due to the favourable exchangerate GBP>EURO and incl. shipping/insurance, it will cost me about half the price of a new one here in the Netherlands.
I read everywhere that they sound very good but there have been/still are some loadingproblems with these SE models.
Because this is one of a number of reprocessed players (been back to Cyrus for softwareupdates etc...) I hope everything will work sufficiently.
To be a little more sure, I did ask if they would check it out before shipment to me.
It's in the demoroom now for a few days to play CD's. So hopefully...............................
I'll let you know more after................. Have fun. Han

I'm very happy with the loading/reading
It's connected to be powered with a Supra LoRad PC.
It's connected to my Cyrus integr.amp with an "unscreened" DNM/Reson TCC75.
It's working OK for a few days now, only will not play my PF/DSOTM SACD's CD layer.
The sound is very surprising to me and so detailed, open, clear but still warm sounding.
It has the same sort of effect/experience on me when I went from 'n integrated MM phonoamp to GSP EraGold/PSU.
I didn't know there was so much live, detail, openess, warmth, lows, real voices, etc possible to be heared from a CDplayer.
It's playing in my room/speaker setup now, for that's my favourite listeningplace.
Not being such a headfi addict, I will still try my SoloMC/PSU1(from 2005) in direct mode.
Have fun Han

Man, it sure looks like a very nice unit. Currently I have been eyeing a older Meridian cd-player. Specifically the 506.24 like: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1237268182&/Meridian-506.24-classic--tank-
What do you think?

Sorry again Miguel, I have no personal experience with any Meridians.
And to tell you from third hand what's on the net, is not my way.
I do know that Marantz CD5001
And also that "in general" for CD(-R)'s a dedicated CDplayer outperforms the generalist-players within the same pricebracket.
Succes with your queste to get your best price/quality CDplayer
Have fun Han
