It was a bit earlier than that - it was in the 2011/12 season.
I was there - the no chips announcement really didn't go down well!

The 12cm^2 embedded motherboard that I now use is marketed for such connectivity like 5G, IoT, AI, machine learning, neural networks and robotics etc. Seems to be the way technology is going. Most of it is well over my head.

I like the old saying "keep it simple" I have a portable music player I've stopped using even out walking and on my bike, part of this is, all I wont to do is listen to music but I have to wait for it to boot up and then go through a menu system which seems to take for ever where as in my car I can press play on the CD player and in no time at all I'm listening to music.

You've probably tried this already but does your music player have options you could set to continue playing the last track?

I've been through the manual online if it's there I can't find it, as soon as you switch it on it goes into configuration mode, it doesn't even remember the volume you last had it on. it takes at lest a min before you can play music.  like I said I just can't be bothered with it. I had a minidisc and that was vary good switch it on and press play I sometimes wish I still had it, all right you had to carry discs around but that was no pain.
