This:
is also going to be released as a vinyl edition. Not quite my cup, but it should be of interest to some of us. The more vinyl being pressed, the merrier. Let's hope it won't be digitally remastered ( just like the Pink Floyd Echoes box, which I almost thought about buying)...

I have the Pink Floyd "Echoes" 4 LP compilation. It was cut by Sean Magee at Abbey Road (aka Solid State Road) studios from the same digital masters that were used to press the CDs. Sounds so so. Not great or bad. Was given to me as a gift so I am not complaining. Everything sounds better when it is free.

Many vinyl re-issues are sadly mastered from digital copies of analog masters, or when the original tapes are used, are cut at a studio where a digital delay is used.

If you want to be sure: find out where the LP was mastered and by who, and send the cutting studio  an e-mail. That's what I usually do.

For example, I contacted Stan Ricker and found out that the Led Zeppelin "Mothership" 4 LP compilation he mastered, was cut from digital copies of the original analog masters, so I am staying away from that one.
