Hey Sol,

Have you received/played that Wilco Lp yet? Tell everyone about it! Easily the best current songwriter/lead guitar and band IMHO. Check them on YouTube to get a feel of the live experience.

I agree, Sky Blue Sky is outstanding.

Another really good record on vinyl is Fleetwood Mac - Tusk. Its so hard to take it off, I cant get enough.

I rathe rlike Tusk ... especially "Tusk" ... it takes a good system to keep that track togetehr without sounding like a congealed mess as the timing changes.

As for Wilco ... I'm undecided! Don't get me wrong it is an fantastic LP from a production stand point with 1/2 speed mastering etc. BUT ... their tunes are a bit limp wristed! I'm constantly waiitng for the kick in! BUT it would be a strange world if we all liked the same thing. I'll leave it a while and go back to it.

A recent "find" was the soundtrack from the film "O Brother Where Art Thou" on vinyl! Female voice(s), accapella, blues country gospel ... awesome .. and of course the soggy bottom boys ;)

Mmmmm favourite buy recently .... that's a hard one ... give me a minute oir two to think and I'll post agin!

Nirvana Unplugged In New York Simply Vinyl 180gm Cobain

Definately the best live stuff I'v heard recently ... shame the damn LP was so expensive!

I'm in India for another week (with work) and when I et back I've about 10 albumn come in the post to listen through :) It's a hard job but someone has to do it. Job lot of Steve Hillage, Tangerine Dream, and an Ottis Reddin albumn! IIRC

My current favourite is Dusty in Memphis just listening to her singing about the son of a preacher man almost makes me feel romantically inclined to him as well.

Sol - Although it seems to be down for now try www.simplyvinyl.com direct as they sometimes have offers on, my copy of Nirvana unplugged was a cheaper than that ebay listing you linked.

Sony are currently rereleasing some 'classics'  on vinyl, at reasonable prices..... of course more expensive than CD and much more than charity shops.

Just been to Zavvi? (prev Virgin Records) and in their bigger shops (at least the one in Manchester) they have some repressings of some 'classic' albums at £7 each.

Go All Mod Cons and in the City by the Jam.

Lets get it  on - Marvin Gaye

The revolution will not be Televised - Gil Scott-Heron

Innervisions and talking book - Stevie Wonder

The Man Machine and Trans Europe Express Kraftwerk

and a New York Dolls album

The have a bunch 70s Tamla and Detroit of stuff I have never heard of,  some AC/DC and Iron Maiden stuff.

Definately worth a look for the Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye stuff (they also have What's Going On - Essential listening)

It's in the Arndale Centre on the Ground floor.

The vinyl section is in the front half of the shop aproximatly 11am as you come though the door (internal Entrance)
