You know you're in the ten...
I'm just guessing the number. It could be more - it could be less. The real enthusiasts are those who contribute. Those who don't are simply not sufficiently interested to benefit themselves. Somebody sent me a circuit diagram of a well known brand's product. I'll not say which and what it was (or should I say still is because it's still on sale being pushed by certain types of dealers), and I was quite simply shocked. Yes, simply by looking at the circuit I could see it was the lowest noise and lowest distortion probably possible. I could also hear the circuit in action, and lots of people who email me have one, and I just feel so trapped not being able to tell them they've been fleeced. Her majesty should be ashamed! ![]() |

Well what can we do, the "consumer" now looking for easy answer. They like their buying "easily comparable" with other choices. One 100 db snr is better than another with 99 db snr.
A 250W is better than a 100W, 10 parallel transistors are better than 1. They can only understand that much. Graham, what you explain to them , they just can't understand. Because the economics tell them to have a better experience, they have to spend more time to work(aka $$) instead of spending more time on their interest. At the same time, they cannot stand for being I_dont_care and just enjoy the performance. It makes them look less "smart", as in ,knowing db, W , bigger transformer is "smarter"..... Sometime I feel, a consumer may ignore your product because the simplicity , the lack of gigantic electronic , shows it is the designer is smarter ..... |

Bells, whistles, big numbers, bling all sell to those who buy with their eyes and their egos, not their ears.

So far, I've only found one UK manufacturer displaying her Majesty's honour on it's website. Maybe there are more. By way of a few PMs we could probably quickly draw up a list of those Graham might be referring to. |

The more I think about it, the "try before you buy" loan programme has to be a GSP Unique Selling Point. At the moment it is a simple hassle free way of experiencing the GSP sound. If this aspect could be opened up to a wider audience of prospective purchasers it would surely improve Brand awareness and sales. I can however foresee problems of security and admin for a larger loan programme, ensuring return of loan equipment is difficult. Not to mention the level of investment. Possibly promoted through a simple advertising campaign in the HiFi journals. Has the current loan programme suffered losses?

Sorry, I'm certainly not 1 of those ~ 10 and not at all into digital
I do LP's and CD's (and some burned copies given to me)
Only thing I use a few hours/week is the SRGII/PSU1/HD600, which is connected to my PC on the 3.5mm jack on the motherboard's integrated soundchip, so.....
OK, maybe I'll be interested anyway, when the USB-DAC is finished?
A concern of me is the poweroff on the USB-DAC when the computer is off (most of the 24 hrs)
Is there a simple solution for that? Sort of little stby PSU?
