The way to eliminate RFI when using high gain circuits is not to use silly unshielded interconnects (yes on the output of the Gram).

How many times must I explain?

Damian,
maybe try a pair of Blue Jeans LC1 from http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/audio/index.htm , they are good quality, well shielded and inexpensive.
The service is very quick too.
Or have a look around this forum for instructions on how to make your own using CT100 cable (although the proper cable is not so easy to find)

No need to apologize damianwo, I sometimes need to be firm to get the message across not only to the questioner but to others who may be asking the same. Smile

enthusiastic about sound performance and dynamcis.

Does this shielding affect the capacitance of the tone arm cabling?

mike49,
very good to read of your positive results in applying shielding to your tonearm cable.
My german is small to non-existent and I made little sense of the link, is this product a loose sleeve that it is possible to pass the original cable through ?
Interesting also that the Era Gold/Exp combination seem to reduce the noise floor and resolve the micro detail more effectively and allow this interference to be heard (no gain without pain :D )

TG Give http://translate.google.com/translate_t a try in situations like this, sometimes the literal translation is amusing but you tend to get the gist.

I've ordered a set of Belden 1694A cables from http://www.bluejeanscable.com.  I chose these over the Blue Jeans LC1 suggested by TG as the specification suggests that these are better for RFI which my main concern.  They certainly look very heavily shielded with both braid and foil shields.  I'll let you all know how I get on.

By the way, Paul Spetz from Anti-cables has been very helpful and offered me either a mod to his cables to give additional RFI protection or a refund.  As I had already ordered the shielded cables from blue jeans I have gone for the refund.
