Sounds like a lot of musical fun. What amp is driving your 685's Johan?

It's an old vintage late 70's early 80's (not sure exactly) AKAI, model AM-2450. It seems to match very nicely with the speakers. Although the sound is still a tad bass heavy on some such mastered albums the general sound is very natural and unstrained and you don't hear neither amp nor speaker working really, they're just playing along in a lively yet relaxed balance. And when the bass gets a little too prominent on some material I just tune it down a step on the amps tonal control, noone has to know
.There, now I've posted yet another completely off topic post here on this thread. I hope Graham and the thread author will forgive me... ![]() Johan |

You are forgiven for going off-topic by the topic starter, if that helps. Curious about your Akai integrated amp though.

That's a relief. I really don't know much about the AKAI amp myself. I must confess I bought it mainly on the merits of its nice looks, it really looks well built and handsome on the outside, its weight and its reasonable power. It's not a very heavy amp but not a lightweight either. I'd say 20 lb give or take a few.
Anyhow, it has shown itself quite able but it's no Slee amp (and there we're almost back on topic again ![]() Edited by suede - 31 Dec 2011 at 12:59am |

Yes, but it's still very confusing, if the texts are not about the called out subject

Fair point and I hope moving these posts to a new thread has addressed it. |
