I have a Solo Ultra Linear and was thinking of buying some 600 ohm headphones. can anyone tell me if the amp is capable of driving them or should I go for the apparently inferior 250 ohm version?

AFAIK the Solo will work well with either impedance.

Hi Chris,

I'm using a Solo U.L.D.E to power some HD540 Gold 600ohm open headphones and it has absolutely no problems driving them. For such an impedance I have the volume knob set at about 2-4 o'clock, whereas I set it to about 12 o'clock when powering some closed  300ohm HD250 II.

What's the minimum impedance the ULDE should be running? I think I'm pushing it a little here.. I tried my simgot supermix4 iems on her and they sounded incredibly bassy. They have an impedance of 7.2ohm @ 1k. I suspect that's throwing the balance off xx
