Hi Darren,

Thanks for the link. Do you mean "LOK™ Rhodium Performance Series Locking Barrel RCA"?! A pair of that would be over 20 pounds. Now that will justify the 40 pounds difference between a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable and a 3.5mm-RCA one.

I suppose there's nothing wrong with Russ Andrews' GQ-24 but rather i-Lead is simply better. I will PM you for the rest of the discussion on how to order the cable and the dock.

To Graham,

I was wondering if I can operate Solo Ultra-Linear on a 24/7 basis, i.e. keep it on all the time? Many thanks.

Brilliant, many thanks for the reply. I was kind of concerned about whether or not a fully exposy coated Ultra-Linear will get overheated when operating 24/7.

Will order soon. Shall be able to post a review in the near futre after Solo is burt-in.

the prototype ultra-linear module

The ultra-linear module is our solid-state version of a tube (valve).

I've been dip coating them myself but the drying times of my own epoxy dip based on circuit board notation ink is about 3 days, and I only have 0.5 metres (1 cubit) of hanging space in front of the infra-red tube heater needed to stove them without exceeding the temperature ratings of the components. Our transformer manufacturer will be doing the production coating in a different colour to white.

The reason for dip coating is to protect our "intellectual property" - I'm sure if we left them uncoated our secret would be all over the world within hours.

There are a few other mods over the SRGII needed to accommodate it as the module works best at a different (more) gain to the SRGII, and therefore there is also some input attenuation and other component changes to counter this.

There are about 4 or 5 versions of this ultra-linear module to date, all able to do the solid-state tube function in a number of products.

Could the Solo Ultra-Linear module used with the "green" Solo too - from the technical I thin »yes« .......

Possibly yes - possibly no.

We will have to see what a phase plot says. A phase plot tells many stories. Most of them are about people who listen to oscillators thinking they are fine amplifiers. We wouldn't want to fall into that snare?

If the phase plots are well, I hope I could test one Smile
