What we're waiting for is a delivery of these...
the prototype ultra-linear moduleThe ultra-linear module is our solid-state version of a tube (valve). I've been dip coating them myself but the drying times of my own epoxy dip based on circuit board notation ink is about 3 days, and I only have 0.5 metres (1 cubit) of hanging space in front of the infra-red tube heater needed to stove them without exceeding the temperature ratings of the components. Our transformer manufacturer will be doing the production coating in a different colour to white. The reason for dip coating is to protect our "intellectual property" - I'm sure if we left them uncoated our secret would be all over the world within hours. There are a few other mods over the SRGII needed to accommodate it as the module works best at a different (more) gain to the SRGII, and therefore there is also some input attenuation and other component changes to counter this. There are about 4 or 5 versions of this ultra-linear module to date, all able to do the solid-state tube function in a number of products. In case anybody guesses, it's not like the op-amps that are forced into "class-A". The op-amp output stays in its normal output operating mode... neither is it anything like using the VAS stage output as the reader may have read about around the forums. In fact, we can utilise four (or more) different op-amps of which only one has a VAS output pin. We'd thought about a patent but it has been done before (of "prior knowledge" - not patented), but the details have been lost in the annals of time, and the application had not been developed on to the extent the ultra-linear module has. We also hope to offer a version designed to tweak up the Genera phono preamp project to extreme-fidelity - it sounds quite incredible here, but it will obviously have to be at a premium price - it's something that really works! @J2004823.....Now, i only need an appropriate cable to connect my iPod Classic. Maybe the GQ-24 from Russ Andrews? Any comments, pals?
------------------------------------------------------ Re this, Graham has kindly allowed me to put my retailer head on, if only to save the world from another Russ Andrews product!
We sell a lot of the iBasso CB03 dock cable - dock connector at one end and 3.5mm jack plug at the other, connected by a short ribbon cable. See:-
Their headphone amps/dacs also good but not as good as the Voyager - no way.
Also, Sendstation do a range of dock connector plugs with audio line out (plus either usb, mini usb or firewire sockets) that are very popular with folks with a need for the Apple gadget who are not prepared to sacrifice their music quality (like me)...
Then you need a 3.5mm jack lead and, guess what, we developed our own.
http://www.audioelevation.co.uk/CartV3/Details_options.asp?ProductID=246 (that's my ipod/Voyager in the picture!).
Personally, I use ipod classic (all in lossless) -- Sendstation Line Out USB -- Audio Elevation i-lead -- Voyager -- Sennheiser earbuds.
Anyway, if this is of help to anyone...

Many thanks for your reply, Darren. Your store has many interesting stocks, and I am glad that I didn't miss that one out.
iBasso CB03 iPod Dock Connector would be a perfect companion to go with Voyager. Yet, RCAs at the back Solo will favour i-Lead, I'm afraid ![]() Sendstation PocketDock Line Out USB is a brilliant product, which opens all the possibilities of using other cables, for instance i-Lead. With the help of Sendstation PocketDock, I can buy a 3.5mm/RCA cable and use it on multiple devices, say connecting Sony PCM-D50 to Solo. May I ask what RCA connectors were used on i-Lead? They shall have a good looking. On the other hand, I was wondering if there's anything wrong with Russ Andrews' product? Never did i audited their GQ-24 cable, hence little can i say whether it is a good cable to go with iPod or not. The combination of Sendstation PocketDock + i-Lead RCAs will almost double the cost of a GQ-24. However, the combination offers unmatched flexibility (hence, a lot more playability ). |

RE: Graham,
Wow, i think i heard you saying epoxy etc, but i certainly did not see this coming: a complete coat of epoxy. Um ...... with such coat, will i still be able to leave Solo powered up 24/7? Do i need to take precaution for heating, or overheating that is to say? |

@J2004823...
Thanks for your interest. These are the plugs used:-
They're LOK rhodium plated lockable connectors and I think they look superb. They feel really heavy in your hand, especially compared to the rest of the cable, which is relatively light. The 3.5mm jack is a gold plated Neutrik.
Hope that helps.
Darren
