Well done indeed Graham, the Proprius looks great and already we know it sounds brilliant.

Just about.

Quote And one not so obvious, will it drive my Dynaudio Geminis? an early place on the UK loan programme would be good.

I think you will need to find that out empirically and a word with Jon (FMG) may secure an early loan.

Not very far I'm sorry to say - too many procurement problems getting the Proprius finished has shoved this and other designs on the back-burner for the time being.

Yes, but I've not seen them turn up from our metalworkers yet... Ermm

That is fantastic news, indeed!
I can't wait to check Proprius in my own system - that's why I still keep Apogee Mini-DAC as a second DAC in my system. This DAC has XLR outputs + volume control, so I can use it for Proprius without any hassle.

Graham, this is excellent news.  The culmination of a huge amount of research, hard work and only you know how many iterations!Clap

Because we are trying to sell our house and move upto North Somerset in the near future (I hope!), I will not be placing my order just yet, but I will be placing itSmile

I will have to try and get a pair on the loan scheme to torment myself with when they become available!

Should I be thinking of modifying my Usher S520s as per your post on the subject? Can't see the wife letting me buy anything better for the time beingCry

Looking forward very much to hearing (or is that not hearing?) this little monoblocks.  Will you be making up some cables for these?

Regards

Les

Forgive my ignoranceSmile but is the Proprius also intended to be used in conjunction with a conventional pre-amp? Most posts I've read only mention DACs or similar. I assume one will be required for each speaker?
The input to the Proprius (XLR?) is something I for one have never used. The input will surely make it difficult to use with a pre-amp with phono out, interconnects with phono to XLR required. It will be virtually impossible to use with DIN out because suitable cables will be impossible to source. It's difficult enough obtaining good quality DIN to phono as it is!

oldagetraveller, do not worry. See picture below...

1] Under the speaker sockets there's a boxed caption which says "When used with preamp set vol to max"

This means that we expect quite a lot of customers to use them driven from a conventional preamp which has its own volume control, so the Proprius volume controls can be parked "out of circuit" at maximum.

2] Yes, one per speaker. The Proprii serve a number of purposes, one of which is to turn passive (normal) speakers into powered monitors - by bolting a Proprius to the back of each speaker or standing them at the base of each speaker. Therefore they're made as mono amps and two will be required for stereo.

3] Many domestic audio equipment users have never used XLRs, but that's nothing to be afraid of. It's not difficult at all and we'll be launching the necessary cables to coincide with the Proprius going on sale (anytime now).

4] It's not difficult at all to use with any source - preamp or phono out.

a] We gave them volume controls to enable their use with a phono stage or other line outs where required.
b] We made it easy to use the input single ended (unbalanced) as well as balanced and illustrate the rear panel with the pin-outs for such.
c] DIN outs, given a break-out cable, which we will also be introducing, can be used with the single ended Proprius cables as well as other phono ended cables.
d] Good quality is habitual with us.
e] As mentioned in 3 above, we'll be doing all the cables you'll require at our usual reasonable prices
5] I'm compiling answers to a number of questions regarding Proprius usage, which will appear on the Proprius page on our Hi-Fi Amp website (shortly to be published), with the kind assistance of morris_minor (Bob Wood).
