Well where to start, I thought I had been sent the wrong kit Cry, a head amp perhaps, but why 2? Confused The package was so light, surely not the mono block amps, maybe the power supplies are to follow, what are these wall warty things, no, you’re kidding, really? LOL

Funny isn’t it how we are almost programmed to associate good sounding hi-fi amps with big hefty cases bristling with heat sinks and unless we get a hernia lifting them into place and you can griddle bacon on the case, performance is unlikely to measure up. No I’m not that bad but I know more than a few that wouldn’t even bother plugging these in!

Me, I’ve been there and made that mistake but have seen the light and now live with a pair of sub £800 open baffle speakers wile a 10k pair of well respected floor standing monitors sit gathering dust in the spare room! (How times have changed Tongue )

So here goes, now to substitute these..... er amps for the current power workhorses driving the OB speakers to destruction (only kidding, but they do go loud! Wink)

(Who said get on with it!!) Ok let’s get this show on the road, time to see what these little tins can do

Have I plugged them in or is that still my current amps?  Thought I had swapped all connections over, re-check, yep the little tinnies are on, ok so that’s a good start, certainly no worse off which in itself is both surprising and impressive considering what their being compared against! Clap

Quick listen before bed, straight out of the box shows these are very capable and although not an apparent massive leap forward in sonic terms to what I am used to, they are the proverbial quart from a pint pot!

Next day can’t wait to get home and have a really good listen to  see what these are like after a good few hours warm up! Ok their good, but how good , well don’t need too much listening to tell you these are definitely punching above their weight......... and some.........25watts you say, blimey! Shocked

What stands out pretty much immediately is their ability to resolve complex passages whilst keeping everything in order and each instrument separate from the other, each nuance and timbre is captured and allowed to play itself out rather than get caught up in the Malay and lost amongst more dominant and forward elements of the performance, it’s always a good sign when you start picking up subtleties that you never noticed before, not that they weren’t there before, just never found a way through or just couldn’t be resolved.

So Ok, so far so good but only a couple days in so need to start taxing them a bit more, Sopranos next, always a killer, and then Pink Floyd,  wow this will be interesting, watch this space!! Big smile

As Graham would say... Sad, isn't it?

With plenty of use and power-on time, I'm intrigued about just how capable the Proprius really is. No doubt I will find myself auditioning them in the future. Smile They seem to have absolutely enormous potential! (I'm thinking thousands of pounds worth of potential...)

It's a good point you both make, listening is believing. When I tried the Proprius amps I heard my music so clearly and sweet that I ordered my own pair before the loan finished!

That's funny and says a lot.

Hi-fi and sound engineering do not seem to come hand-in-hand. Hi-fi is what people think is correct and sound engineering is what is correct. It's only when an intelligent sound engineer designs hi-fi that hi-fi becomes what it should have been in the first place: high fidelity. Welcome to the hi-fi that is high fidelity. Enjoy your stay. Wink

Here's a picture I found online of someone using both the Bitzie and the Proprius. The Proprius isn't actually THAT much larger than the Bitzie! Shocked And the Bitzie fits within the length and width of a £5 note. Just goes to show how small electronic systems can be when they are properly designed. Smile

I'm looking forward to trying them out, and the Big DAC, and the Spatia, but I don't want to until I feel the funds are in place. A new iMac has slowed things down, but it was a necessity.
What's the plural of Spatia?

er, "spatia"? Wouldn't the singular properly be "spatium"?

I failed O Level Latin very badly (maybe because I used the lesson time to do other subjects' homework whenever possible Approve ).
