discrete badger is probably referring to the HD250 here but as usual, I will also add HD540 and HD560 models to the list as these three models, for me, are the most important designs they have developed. All three give the professional audio engineer exactly what they need to be able to do their job effectively. Apart from lack of seal on the 540/560 open-back models, all three are lightweight, affordable, have a modular assembly for easy maintenance and have a transparent, faithful and musically engaging sound reproduction that will pair well with expertly-engineered amplification.

Ok so I really am that predictable!

I haven't heard the HD540/560 so can't comment on those. However, the HD250 was an ordinary-looking but (to my ears) sonically wonderful headphone at a reasonable price.

And so totally doomed to failure in the bling and big-bucks world of modern audiophilia.

Wow, it does symmetrical signals - as if nothing else does!!!

I think it could be a good idea to report them to the ASA...

I don't usually react to manufacturers wild claims but this one is really overstepping the mark!

You can complain to me Sennheiser (as you always do if I say anything untoward about you) but it's you Sennheiser who are in the wrong.

Well, if I am to be my usual "vocal" (gobby) self, I will say that my K1000s, from your electronics Graham, would kick the ass of this pretentious, corporate greed device with regard to stereo imaging, sound immersion, musicality and true-to-life frequency accuracy. I reckon the Orpheus 2 will do sonic signature and noise/microdetails (it's a thin line between them...) better though. Hopefully it won't be unmusical like the HD800 despite technical prowess.
