Yes I agree and there is also the risk of buying a favourite LP when rereleased only to ask if it was worth the money.

I've done it. I bought a copy of, Pink Floyd TDSOTM and I didn' think it was any better than the copy I already had. Like you said " only to ask if it was worth it" In my case it was no.

As promised, here are some of the records from that haul. Here were a couple more I can't lay my hands on right now, I remember there was one of Gregorian chant and another version of The Four Seasons (I remember my wife joking that I got eight seasons), but this is most of them.
I'm going to push back a little on the idea that you shouldn't listen to music just because it's recorded great. I listen to music for all kinds of reasons and being able to hear individual instruments in clustered strings on vinyl is a joy. ![]() |

Trevor Pinnock's Four Seasons is a great version, though I keep going back to Marriner's ASMF version where Winter sounds icier than ever

I see what you mean about the Marriner recording- even summer sounds icier to me in the violins. And such a warm harpsichord at the same time. I’d love to find it on vinyl, but they tend to command a premium here when you can find them. “Imported from Europe!”
