Thumbs Up Tells me there is a shop in Afleck's palace I didn't know was there.

Being from Manchester (ish) I feel the need to plug Piccadilly records for the sheer diversity and range, any shop that has a section called "Weird Sh*t" gets a thumbs up. Their mailing list is good especially their end of year review ones.

Just remembered Eastern Bloc records in Manchester as well.

Pity I will miss record store day this year as we are moving.

That's a shame Steve. There are three unmissable dates in my calendar at the start of every year - Record Store Day, Glastonbury week & The Acoustic Festival.

edit: (oh cripes, in case 'someone' ever happens to read this: of course our wedding anniversary + your birthday)

We queued at our favourite Indie shop from 00:30 - I was the second person there & able to stand under the shopfront awning to avoid the rain & snow. Got all 10 items that I was after plus a free bag of other LPs, CDs and extras. A night without sleep was well worth it.

I just received this from the local CAMRA branch:

The Keep in Wallingford will open for the first time this Friday. The micro-pub will double as a record shop, and, as far as I can tell, is in the same building as Wallingford's sadly-missed music shop, The Music Box. For those not from the Eastern Fringes, keep up to date via

In the hour and a half queueing period at Rapture in Witney on RSD the couple alongside me bemoaned the fact they'd made two trips to a record shop in Wallingford and on both occasions it was shut - maybe that explains it.

I can certainly recommend Vince's shop in the arcade adjacent to Wantage market square. He keeps a well stocked and tidy store, bought a pristine early pressing of Hotel California complete with poster last week!

I thought we'd lost everything from Wantage. Do you mean up by The Bear?
