I am hoping you Jon, and the other moderators who give their time in allowing others to hear the truth, are able to continue your great support?

There are adverts being published shortly to gather greater interest in borrowing our products for home trial through membership here. I am hoping I have your support as the interest gathers pace?

I'm very happy to carry on the loaner work and look forward to adding the Majestic DAC and Deze headphone cables to the loaner stock. Let's hope the message gets through to Joe Public that this superb equipment is out there for them to try at home FOC

I am new to the forum but would comment that I was aware of a brand called Graham Slee without any real knowledge of where it stood in the market. Many years ago, when I lived and worked in London, I bought into the,so called, 'flat earth' scene. This followed several hours of auditioning in the supposedly ideal listening rooms. I then discovered another niche brand of loudspeakers - made by a small Essex based outfit who have now moved to a different place in the audio market.
Having set up a system I eventually decided to just enjoy listening to the music and avoid chasing the dream of more and more unaffordable diminishing returns that the maker and retailer my record deck and amplifiers seemed to think I would be naive enough to throw hard earned money at!
I have enjoyed the equipment and had good value from it so have no regrets.
Now revisiting vinyl replay after some years I needed to obtain a phono amp and the name Graham Slee was somehow there in the background. The more I delved on-line and by asking knowledgeable contacts the more attractive it looked as an alternative the big names.
I am also keen to encourage the small business as a retired small businessman who also struggled against the powerful and mighty!
Good luck Graham, you seem to be doing something right.
For what it is worth I found expensive advertising of higher end cookware did not see worthwhile returns in hard sales but you do need to get your name out there from time to time.

Listen to the music, not the gear!

Hi Alan,

I am another Linn/Naim person. The turntable still sounds fine to me and I also thought the phono stage in my Naim preamp (NAC 72) was OK.

I tried the Graham Slee Reflex M on the loan scheme a couple of years ago and was staggered by the improvement. It didn't take a number of careful listening sessions to determine that. It was the largest step jump in improvement I had ever heard in my system.

So my advice would be to get one of GSP phono stages on loan and look for that step up in performance. All of his phono amps are highly thought of in this forum so you need not go for a Reflex in the first instance.

And as you so rightly say, listen to the music, not the gear.

Alan,
I tracked down my comments from my'review' of the Reflex from april 2013.

"Thanks to the 'Loaner' programme, I have just spent two weeks comparing a Reflex M and PSU1 with the internal phono stage of my Naim NAC72 preamp + Hicap. Listening was via either NAP 250 amp and SBL speakers or via a Solo SRGII and AKG 550 headphones.

I thought the outcome might be quite close as the internal Naim phono boards are considered to be good.

Well it was not close. The difference didn't require any analytical assessment. The sound via the Reflex was in a different league. I cannot remember a greater jump in clarity in my system.

It felt like 3 or 4 layers of heavy curtains had been removed from between me and the source. Stereo placement was much improved. Presence was better. The bass was 'tighter'. The music just sounded right.

Suddenly I was concentrating on the music rather than wondering why my system sounded a bit flat. (many of its components are over 15 years old and some need servicing).

There can be no higher recommendation than that my 'better half' instantly agreed to the purchase of a Reflex M."

Hope that is useful.

Marsh
