The labour cost in terminating the cables overrides the material cost. We'll do our best. 1.2 metres sets the 100MHz filter a bit too close to the output end which is why we decided to do a minimum length of 1.5m. We do Spatia Speaker Rewire Wire which performs so close to the jacketed Spatia cables as to make no easily discernable difference. I had it in 6 metre pairs driving my LS3/5As from the Proprius and it was hard to tell any difference between it and my normal Spatia cables, and in-fact it would still be in the system if not for the fact that I've too many wires making the place untidy. The wire is on our price list: http://www.gspaudio.co.uk/price-download-dec-1-2013.pdf Good price too! Graham |

Apart from the Lautus USB cable being 1.2m, so all the other Lautus interconnects have a minimum length of 1.5m...
So Graham, for a man like me, who you know is a minimalist and wants to have the shortest cables possible that will still allow best system performance, should I opt for short CuSat50 links instead of Lautus cables. Would very short lengths of CuSat50 be indistiguishable from Lautus cables?? I want to ultra refine my Graham Slee setup. I'm thinking a Majestic DAC with two Proprius monoblocks, side-by-side, sat on top of the DAC. Then sat on top of the Proprius pair would be a Solo ULDE. All of these could be connected to each other with CuSat50 cables almost as short as the Spatia links. Or would I be better linking them with longer cables so that Lautus can be used? |

![]() View from the front. Lautus only necessary for longer cable runs? All four power supplies can be kept together. I could add a Reflex M to the stack if I really wanted to do a full job. ![]() Edited by Ash - 25 Feb 2014 at 12:36am |

Ash,
Good idea to shorten cables where you can.
The Cusat50 in 1 foot length would be good for the DAC-to-SOLO.
BUT... I would not put the Proprius' amps under any units due to heat dissipated may be too much for the other units on top of them, the Majestic DAC especially. Graham had to struggle with the DAC design to keep heat dissipation low enough.
I would place the Proprius amps beside their respective speakers and use very short Spatia cables... their volumes being set at your loudest use and forget them... set 'em and forget 'em.
I would not stack the PSU1's either only side-by-side, like AC mains on left, DC outs all on right, or vise-versa.

Ash,
I imagine the Proprius input cables are long enough to reach your speakers?

Ash, you could mount the PSU1's and Proprius underneath the shelf.
OR mount a small shelf under the big shelf to put these units on.
Remeber to keep all AC power supplies away from active audio units.

Please note the positions of the Lautus filters Ash. They are where they are because of cable dielectric properties which affects their velocity of propagation. Maybe I ought to patent them? Then I could divulge exactly how they work and the design wouldn't be criticised any more? ![]() Compare any length CuSat50 with a standard audio Lautus and decide where the benefits are. Jon runs the UK loaner program as you know. I'd agree with Bruce on system component positioning. When driving speakers at a good volume for an hour or two the Proprius can get quite warm. I put screw on feet on them because I thought adhesive feet may fall off. The Majestic uses adhesive feet (3M adhesive) because the case does not get as hot as a Proprius can. Bruce observes that heat from the Proprius would rise and influence the temperature of the Majestic. Free standing I expect the Majestic capacitors to 'do the distance'. The balanced output of the Majestic will drive balanced cables of say 10 metres with ease (or the length of a theatre if terminated 600 Ohms). Placement of the Proprius quite close to the speakers (or attached to their backs) removes the need for Spatia speaker cables. Instead, you could use our Libran balanced cables (not on price list and to make their debut just as soon as John C can make me a pair for photography), the short lengths between Proprius and speaker terminals can be Spatia Speaker Rewire Wire. |
