Since having bought the ULDE back end of November last year to run the HD 800s, i've been genuinely bowled over at how damn good the amp is and equally what a good pairing the HD 800s are.  After just about 6 weeks ownership they are coming up a treat and don''t take quite so long to warm up when being used in anger.  They've been plugged in 24/7 since purchase as per instructions.

Anyway, having been suitably impressed by this little aluminium treasure chest i've just placed an order this morning for some more of Mr.Slee's other Black Magic boxes.

As follows:-

All the usual Lautus, Libran and Spatia GSP cables one requires to hook everything up and.....

A Majestic DAC (Could not resist, the mind is weak and the flesh even weaker)
A pair of Proprius or should that be just Proprii?
A Voyager (for being out and about).  If this sounds anything like ULDE i'll be very pleased.

I just need the CD player and speakers and i'm done.

How do you guys feel when you buy this stuff?  I presume the majority of you have spent small or even large fortunes on audio equipment?  Do you love doing it every time?

Thumbs Up Well done, Francis!

The anticipation as Graham and the lads build the kit ramps up as the delivery gets closer!

I'm sure you'll have a ball when it's all hooked up . . Wink

As for CD and speakers - maybe find an accommodating dealer willing to loan you items to try out.

I love getting new kit, and getting to know it over time. But the more GSP stuff I get the less I want to change it - it all sounds so good the urge to "upgrade" just goes . . . Ermm Big smile

The instruction to leave kit on is sound.
Mine was powered off when away over the recent festivities & took a couple of days to sound
back to its best when powered back on.

Enjoy all your new GSP kit - is the CD player to be used as a transport with the Majestic?

Majestic/Enigma, Accession MM & MC.

The Maj is there as the hub for hooking up what is now going to be another change of mind on the CD playing front, i think i'm now just looking at purely a CD transport.   I don't want any other nonsense going on in there, no DAC or anything else,  just a nice direct and clean way of sending the CD data to the Maj DAC, and let the Maj DAC do all the translating.

I have my HTC M9 as well so going to be using the Lautus USB interconnect and an OTG adapter to connect that to the Maj DAC,  and there's my PC which has a capable sound card  that runs 192/24 so i'll be using the tweaked optical input i've requested on the Maj DAC for that purpose.

My precious ULDE will be driven by the Maj DAC which hopefully will provide that extra  bit of low down HD 800 clout i know these cans are capable of, unfortunately the output from my M9 is woefully lacking,  and i refuse to use any equalisation just to beef it up.

Finally, there's the old Marantz CD42 i've got which still sounds ok, and it has a digital coaxial output so it will be interesting switching between the Marantz and the new transport using the Maj DAC.

Now that i'll have a Maj DAC and Proprii, and all other things considered, i'm in an ideal position to compare lots of different kit using my own top notch GSP gear as the reference and control hardware.

If only Mr.Slee and the gang made their own speakers and CD transport...  They'd have had the trousers off me too.  I'm lucky to get away with my shirt as it is!

Just don't tell SWMBOOID

Very well done, you will not regret your purchase. 2015 was a very expensive year full me. Majestic, Proprii, Lautus, Libran, CuSat. Plus I've just been on the phone to John, Spatia on the way.

To think 18 months ago I decided to dust down the LP12. I was using a passive pre amp so needed a Phono amp. I bought an Era Gold and after a couple of weeks of being blow away got to thinking what the other gear was like. Borrowed some Proprii on the loan scheme and the rest is history. Graham and co have been emptying my pockets ever since. Absolutely no regrets this stuff is fantastic.

You've got a bit longer with the excitement of 'I just ordered a load of brilliant hi-fi.' Then the anticipation when the parcel(s) arrives. You'll enjoy assembling the equipment in your racks and carefully connecting it up before turning the volume controls up to play some music. It gets even better from there...
