Decided to go with a Alpair 12P and Alpair 12PW pairing, for best microdetail/dynamic resolution and low bass support respectively. At least the cone profile/size of each is the same so phasing pattern will be more symmetrical. Shall arrange them vertically, a 12P above a 12PW. Will start experimenting with a thin baffle material, driver spacing and maybe crossover components. Hoping it will eventually sound good enough to keep my AKG K1000 in its box. I could also consider bi-amping with another pair of Proprius monoblocks (I'm sure Graham would love me to buy another pair... Wink) but not sure whether the expense would be worth a volume control for each speaker cone. Although I would be able to adjust the bass level more easily or apply a simple filter to one cone completely independently of the other... Bi-amping with Proprius was another reason I selected my Majestic to have its fixed analogue output variable, essentially equivalent to the balanced output, just without the balanced circuitry. I'd use a Lautus 1.5m phono-XLR pair, in that case.

Want to try a 12P "full-range" above a 12PW woofer, with a Proprius monoblock for each. I want the baffle and enclosure (if any) material to be slim but not fragile. I could try a simple structural wooden frame with cardboard panels for its faces or I could take a "Genelec" approach and try curved aluminium to form an enclosure. Would want to keep the separate drivers fairly isolated but still close together. Need to learn about what kind of electronic components I'd have to attach to the 12PW in order to roll off its frequency response above about 200Hz. This way, I'll have bass that goes right down low effortlessly but has the coherent midrange and treble of a single driver.

Simplest way is to put an RC filter at the input of the respective Proprius.

If using balanced this would be similar to a H-pad, where two equal value resistors are used for the H uprights (in side to out side), and a suitable value capacitor is used for the H crossbar (across after the resistors).

Possible values are 8.2 k for the resistors and 100 n (0.1 uF) for the capacitor, which would give 194 Hz. The 8.2 k resistors would not present a difficult load to the source.

Where the source is happy driving a lower impedance you could try 3.6 k and 220 n (0.22uF) which gives 201 Hz.

For capacitors try: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/polyester-film-capacitors/3121627/ , http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/polyester-film-capacitors/3121560/

Resistors: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/through-hole-fixed-resistors/6834082/ , http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/through-hole-fixed-resistors/6834219/

These should fit inside a Neutrik 3 pin male XLR.
That none should be able to park up and enjoy the view without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps

A 6.4 mH inductor in series with the 12PW and a 99uF capacitor in series with the 12P. Order from a speaker parts supplier like Wilmslow. It's a first order (-6dB per octave) Butterworth at crossover frequency 200Hz. 6 or 7mH will be close enough as will 100uF.

I'd go for a higher crossover or your 12PW on an open baffle won't be doing its share. I suggest 400Hz which means these values 49uF (47 will do) and 3.2mH (3 will do).

Thanks for your help. I have no idea what I'm doing as I don't fully understand what the additional electronics is doing and I don't know the formulae you've both used to calculate component values.
