Hello to all

I have just joined this forum today and happy to be hear.
My interest in high quality music from vinyl records has been an interest since the 1970's and I never did believe that digital recordings would ever completely replace analogue recordings on vinyl.

I have known about Graham Slee audio products for quite some time but have never owned or heard any of them. I think this may be about to change though, better late than never!
My phono pre amplifier has recently started to cause me a problem and am now looking for a replacement to restore and hopefully improve the sound from my Lyra Kleos MC cartridge.

I am very interested in the Accession MC pre amplifier since reading Graham's blog on EQ and a  few reviews which have all been positive. I intend to use the loaner program which I think is a great idea to try this pre amplifier with my system. If the trial turns out favourably as I expect, then I will post my impressions on this forum.

Looking forward to hearing the Accession and taking part in this forum.

Welcome.

What kind of issues are you having out of curiosity? Also, how many hours are on your cartridge?

It may also be helpful to state what turntable and speaker amp you are using.

I think the loaner program is a great idea, but you just want to make sure that any issues unrelated to GS gear are sorted out before you start your listening trial.

Welcome aboard. I have an AccMC and hope you'll enjoy the loan unit. It's worth checking your cartridge first as has already been suggested.

Thanks to all who have posted responses to my first post on this forum.

The phono pre amplifier causing me problems is a Lehmann black cube SE.
The symptoms are rather strange but I think I have isolated the problem to the pre amplifier.
My system lost a lot of detail in the treble area as though the speakers had been covered by a blanket.
What made me think that this is due to an electronic problem rather than the cartridge is that this seemed to have occurred between listening sessions. I tried feeding a signal from an old cd player into the line amplifier and the sound was as expected. I then decided to power off the black cube for around 48hrs or so and then powered up again before another listening session. The sound went pretty much back to normal during around half an hour of listening. I left the black cube powered up then during the next session a few days later found that the sound had once moor lost detail.

I do have an electronic background as I used to repair audio amplifiers for a long since defunct company back in the 1970's. I checked the DC voltages from the black cube +15 -15 V external power supply and measured +15 and -14.8 volts wrt the 0V rail. This seemed OK to me. I had a look inside the black cube for signs of any leaking electrolytic capacitors, but all looked OK. I couldn't pursue the problem any further as I now only have a DVM. Lehmann do offer a repair and upgrade service but thought that it is perhaps time to look for a better pre amplifier as I believe the black cube never really managed to extract the full potential of the Lyra Kleos anyway.
So my theory is to try the Accession MC which I believe will solve my problem and improve the sound of my system as an added bonus.

I fitted the new Lyra kleos in October 2022 and will have no more than a hundred hours on it.
My system line up is as follows,

Turntable
Roksan Xerxes 20 Plus with Artemiz arm and Lyra Kleos

Amplification
Sugden LA-4 Line amplifier
Sugden SPA-4 power amplifier

Speakers
Harbeth 30.1

The Sugden power amp is costly to use being class A, but it does keep my listening room warm in the colder months!

If the cart only has 100 hours or so you should be good to go.

I agree. My experience with the AccMC was great and I hope you enjoy the loan unit.

I have just trialled the Accession MC with a PSU1 and I will be placing an order for my own.
At the beginning I wasn't convinced as the sound stage wasn't focused and seemed lacking in detail.
I had convinced myself that my Sugden amplification and Harbeth loudspeakers were OK so I turned my thoughts to the alignment of my Lyra Kleos cartridge. The overhang was as good as my eyes could tell but the cantilever zenith may have been just off. So after a couple of tweak's allowing for parallax error everything improved.
The sound stage is now fixed and detailed, but best of all the sound is just so natural and real.
I think its a testament to the Accession when well mastered vinyl's on good pressing's now sound better than I have ever heard them. But poorly mastered vinyl's just sound, well average.
The Accession just tells it the way it is, nothing added but nothing taken away.

So I am hooked on the Graham Slee sound and I think I will be sending a note to Santa Claus for an Enigma PSU.

Its been a pleasure to talk to John C and thanks for arranging my trial.
