Hi,

I have had the Senn HD600s for year and I absolutely love them.  The detail and seperation these cans produce have made it so that I rarely use speakers.  I listen to a variety of music from ambient electronic such as Reigns, to gothic rock such as Fields of the Nephilim.

I am waiting until I have tried the 600s with a soon-to-be-purchased Novo before I think about upgrading.

I am most interested, however by the responses regarding the HD650 and the 325i, I am definitely going to have to think more carefully, and demo if possible.

All the best with your choices.

I think that to some extent it can depend of what type of music you listen to. I have the 650s, which, for me, are splendid for classical music. Recently I got some Denon AH-D7000s which I find myself using a lot for pop (for want of a better term).

The Denon's are like the 650s on steroids - not as accurate as far as I can see - but really enjoyable, with bass to die for. It's like turning up the colour saturation in Photoshop. Or to put it another way the 650s are the "pipe and slippers" to the 7000s "Nike running shoes".

Horses for courses, and personal preference . . Wink

Back to the original topic . . I believe the 650s have closer matched drivers which may account for the price difference. They are certainly "voiced" differently . . .

Hi. I'm not familiar with the 600s but I Am with hd250s and hd650s (and many other senn cans) and sr60/80 and rs1.

You will find different flavours with the 650 and especially 325. Whether they are better for you or not is uncertain.

What are you looking for from another pair of cans? Detail? Soundstage? A specific flavour? Separation, isolation, forgiveness of poor recordings? All of the above?

Best

A friend of mine said he preferred HD 600 over HD 650 because(in his opinion) it sounds more clearly, and the bass of HD650 is a little overwhelming.

I never tried the comparison since he'd already sold his 650 by the time I knew him.

Headphones are an especially personal piece of hi-fi kit (because you wear them) and while some may prefer the 600 over the 650, others place the 650 first.

I like the presentation of the 650, it's nicely laid back while still being "all there", and yes, the bass is pretty deep compared with others. I find it works exceptionally well with the Solo Ultra Linear amp.

You may have seen that there is a loan scheme run by this forum in the US, and there's nothing like trying out Graham's kit in your own system to see how it suits you. The overwhelming response, I think, to having something loaned is to order your own, as sending it back comes hard!

Drop Miguel a PM if you're interested.

Having listened to the HD650 and HD600 side by side I much prefer the HD650. I find the HD650 to be overly warm with way too much bass. The only thing I do not like about the HD600 is its hideous color scheme.
