Thanks. Though I haven't made it myself or anything, just found it on the internet somewhere and cropped it down to avatar size. I thought it was kind of cute and amusing, just like me ![]()
Given that the HD 250 was one of Graham's go-to cans during development I think they're an exceptionally good match . I myself use them together on an almost daily basis.Edited by suede - 20 Mar 2013 at 9:57pm |

Good call. On the avatar tangent I may have to supercede the ribbon mic with an animation of my own!

In my opinion, the HD250II sound great even when driven from my underamped Sony mp3 player. The clarity and balance I can hear with the player's inbuilt FM radio through them is amazing and you can hear all radio transmission artefacts clearly. I have 320kbps mp3 tracks on the player, ripped directly from my CDs. They sound great, although the lack of available voltage swing in the player restricts the sound dynamics. Volume transitions and crescendos do lack the energy they should have, compared to my laptop. I purchased a £150 Audioengine D1 USB DAC a few months ago and I sent it back almost immediately after I could not hear any sound improvement compared to the laptop socket alone. However, I think that Graham's Bitzie will give a very noticeable improvement to my computer sound dynamics, mainly due to his superior understanding of how to take digital back to the analogue domain.

Personally I find the HD250IIs way too hard to drive to use them with my ipod. If I do I have to max the volume and still the sound is restrained and the volume just barely loud enough on most tracks. With an impedance of 300 ohm (or some older ones even 600 ohm I've read) I think they were really only meant for use with dedicated amplification.
Perhaps you would do well to consider the GSP Voyager if you want to use high end cans on the go and want real dynamics and energy from your portable devices? |

I'm currently collecting a few Sennheiser HD250 headphones (to mix parts) as I find them at fair prices. In the future, I will consider selling some of them to GSP audio enthusiasts here, who live in the UK. I think it will be good if I bring such opportunities to the forum and allow members to hear the full potential of Graham's headphone amplifiers.
I'm not promising anything but I have bought a few used HD250 units over the last few months to restore them to new condition. I will sell a HD250II unit for perhaps about £160 inc postage, depending on how much money I have to invest into them to restore them to new. Ear pad, foam, ear shell, cable and plug adaptor costs soon add up if I have to buy new one from the Sennheiser Spares website. I will thoroughly check a HD250II for full operation before I consider it fit for sale at the price I've given. My standards are high so anything less than excellent will be sold for a much lower price. Thanks very much. ![]() Edited by Nuance_Ember - 25 Apr 2013 at 9:50pm |
