Hello Graham,
Hope you are well. Please remember, don't let some daft ''certain 28 year old'' put you down! You design and make lovely sounding kit. Quick (daft) question about the Voyager. Will it be safe using the Voyager with a regular CD Player? Thank you. S. |

There are regular CD players and the incredibly stupid high output CD players (about 2.8 volts). However, the Voyager has a volume control up front to be used to regulate the input so will not overload unless you turn it up.
In other words, if its comfy to your ears, it's doing OK. But, you could very well find with a 2.8 volt output CD player, you're only just able to "crack the volume control open" before "deafness". But, I had to give it sufficient gain for low output gear, especially the battery portable things that would normally go with it (that was mainly iPods back in the day). It would help if said CD player had a hardware output trimmer somewhere round the back, but these days their designers just love to make it only available in software... (a bit like searching for the heater controls on the car's infotainment screen) ...so you have to set it every single damn time. But otherwise, yes, safe. ![]() |
