One potential alternative for a one box idea worked for quad in the 70s. The 33 and FM3 used a wooden case!

Whilst not dispensing with the metal cases it could in theory enable a custom option of a case to be constructed to accommodate whatever kit you wanted. One of the appeals of GSP was the size of the small boxes. My revelation and elevator are side by side -around 1cm apart they could by installed in to an outer case if needed (wood or otherwise) for example.

As to power supplies Graham's racking idea is a good one - again custom made. - is this an option for a new line in furniture graham ie a modular PSU rack Graham?

Where I can see ash's point is that having what could be 4 or more small boxes may not be ideal+ power amps and could look random if scattered over a worktop. I may try and send a pit of my items for the sake of tidiness!

Regards
Richard

I'd like to have just the one case on my desk; timber is an idea, yes. I'd have three mains power leads running side-by-side into the case, straight into their respective power supplies for Maj and 2x Pro, obviously giving them all enough "breathing space" inside the case to stay quite cool. Then short runs inside the case into the Maj and 2x Pro themselves with them linked together via shortest possible balanced CuSat50. Again, they'll need some breathing space or additional heatsinking to stay really cool.

To this case, I then just plug in my choice of input (USB, SPDIF or analogue) and connect my output wires to either my open baffle speakers or to my K1000. I just want less cable runs everywhere. I only have three GSP boxes and the current cable situation is a mess. Power supply runs and signal signal runs overlapping at some points as default cable writhe/twist limits where I can put things. I know it seems trivial but I'd really like to sort out a tidy cable solution and I think this is possible if all three boxes were to be fixed in one solid structure.

A good idea which has often been mentioned, that of using wood as GSPaudio 'furniture'. I do like the idea. All I have to find is a good carpentry firm who won't need a mortgage size down payment and produce high quality close tolerance work--in the UKLOL

Might it be worth talking to Tim @ Divine Audio about who he uses for the AnalogueWorks TTs? The quality is stunning.

It's not exactly a structure - just some laminated wood to make a board.

There used to be some relatively local speaker manufacturers over the years though sadly probably all gone now? Wonder if any of your contacts in the trade could help with a supplier?
