Any more thoughts or progress on the suggested integrated DAC/amp for headphones or speakers? Would be nice to have all electronics in one case, of course arranged so they don't interact with one another. Just a dream or is it still a possible reality?
Alternatively, could you design and make a single factory upgrade case where I return my Majestic and Proprius to you and you transfer the PCBs into the new single product then send back the assembly along with the three empty old cases? Edited by Ash - 10 Aug 2015 at 7:38pm |

There's been a lot of "dust" flying about this year - more than I've ever known. Everybody is being tight lipped but the Hi-Fi industry is in turmoil. All direction is lost, and that's because of the big sea-change from the long in the toothed hi-fi generation to the "younger" buyer who simply doesn't understand its meaning. You can count the number of "converts" alive and kicking on here on one hand. Hi-Fi sales have a cut-off point that's now aged 45. Below that... forget it. Look at all the radiograms!!! That's the big new thing for the hip youngster! (people between the ages of 18 and 45) Bloody hell, they're buying the outdated sh*t our parents threw out when we were in our teens! Turmoil it may have been, and turmoil it will continue to be in Hi-Fi, but I've still got my bowing fingers (V) ... but ensuring stability over the last six months that has seen so many values everywhere wiped-out has been a real challenge - and it will continue to be like this for some time. The industry is in trouble - but I'm not. Anyway, that preamble is my way of saying I haven't had the time because of sorting out other issues. I may have to rethink the way I make the integrated DAC/amp, and it could involve me moving into furniture manufacturing ... It's OK, I'm only joking As Asquith said: "We'll have to wait and see" (me included) |

Apologies for this to ALAM , but did you see The Gadget Show ; where the audience and the expert could not tell the difference between mp3 and hd lossless files ,from high end tts and speakers .
Also don't diss the good old Radiogram ,by tearing it to bits and re creating it, I took my first steps in electronic servicing . Hope to get rich enough , for more toys. Martin. |

Ah, the Radiogram. The first thing I did with my Dads' old Fergie which he no longer wanted was take her to bits & make into separates to take to Uni. Nasty old thing with popping and banging valves.
I have stayed with solid state ever since although I rather miss the smell of burning & the orange glow ! |

I must be old before my time
Though I have wondered if there's anything in making a modern 'relatively hi-fi' equivalent to the stereogram. A sylish bit of furniture that also makes nice sound? Must be worth a few SWMBO points? Anyway, I wait to see if Graham's idea gets off the ground (on four shapely wooden legs?) |

OK then, where can I buy them 1960's coffee table legs?
Wonder if Andrew or Ash can knock up a graphic of a Solo ULDE with legs on it? |
