That is a very nice modification!

Smooth is good, musical even better.

Keep up the burning in! :D  ..you can "cheat" and listen while you do it, I would ;)

Does anyone here know how any of the Solo´s handle LCD-2? I see lots of people writing about the extreme importance of pairing these headphones with the right amp. No one is talking about the Solo UL unfortunately.

Also I would like to know if there are any drawbacks driving orthodynamic head phones with the Solo UL? From a design/engineering perspective.

I am also considering the Beyerdynamic T1 and the Grado SR1i, the latter for certain rock and jazz. I will be audtioning a pair of SR1´s that a friend of mine owns, as soon as the amp is assembled. Can not wait!

Good ideas are very welcome. Must be open back. I am not a bass-head, more of a soundstage-head if that makes any sense.

Unfortunately I really really dislike the exterior design of the HD800, otherwise they would be on my list and mostly likely win! I would feel like I had to appear in Star Trek episodes or RoboCop when wearing them.

Hi Kasper, I posted some similar points on this thread http://www.gspaudio-community.activeboards.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=1078&PID=8126#8126 a few weeks ago. I have the Solo and LCD-2 setup you asked about and asked the same questions. In that thread there are some postings on Solo UL output power, sensitivity of the LCD-2's, and the SPL in dB's that may help you.

In general the Solo UL and LCD-2 combination is very good indeed. I liked the soundstage and the clarity of the sound I hear from a good source. You could connect the LCD-2's to an amplifier's outputs if you need more SPL/volume. You would also get more headroom but 4 Watts would be very very loud in my opinion.
