Hi Lars I've tried a couple of different TAC (tone arm connector) plugs on cables I built to 1) avoid contact with the armboard (for the same reasons as you) and 2) have the cable removable without taking the arm off. I failed on the latter aim but second Dave's suggestion of buying the smallish SME TAC, just check your cable fits. As an alternative you could try a VDH right angle connector which allowed me to drop my thicker cable straight down after I enlarged VDH standard hole.

Thanks for the suggestions.
As a temp fix I undid the screw in the contact, so I was able to twist it 45 degrees, untill I find a new solution. A right angle connector sounds like the way to go. Will start looking for a decent copper cable, as I plan to get a rewire for the arm as well, to get rid of the silver wire :)
