Thanks for the great advice. Coming by a meet is not easy in Denmark though I wish it was.
I am inclined to upgrade where it matters the most, so maybe I should hold off here. I already upgraded with some pretty pricey interconnects, and while I hear the difference and enjoy the overall enhanced transparency and improved lower frequency range its a relatively subtle improvement. I will hold off with this for now and save for the Wadia 121 DAC, supposedly due Q3. |

You could buy a K501 or a Denon D5000. The first one is amazing, an so is the Denon but not all like it sound. I love the Denon sound specially w/ the MarkL mods. I am listening to it right now out of the SRGII.

Hi Miguel. I already own the K501s and thoroughly enjoy them, wearing them now actually. I happen to really like Denons sound too for certain types of music and film. I just heard the D5000 wasnt too much of a step up from D2000 and not really worth it, from a lot of people on head-fi. Prices have shot up a bit on the D7000 lately I have noticed, any news on new flag ship models from Denon you know of?
Anyway I have been reading about that "linear" version of the Solo, and it sounds very exciting. I will have to wait for some reviews and impressions before I decide between the SRG II and the linear version. I listen at low volume most of the time, so the "noise issue" does not bother me. |

What noise? My SRGII has no noise that IU can hear.

No no, the noise Graham talks about with the linear model.

Hi Kasper, Put your Solo volume on to 2 o clock. Now put on your headphones. Pres play on the source.
(plop!)
now you are deaf. and you would have to krank it up further to hear some noise when there is no music on the cd.
I have listened to low level mastered CD's at fairly high level and I do not notice any noise. It manifests itself above 2-3 clock volume. But I would be suicidal to listen to music at those levels since 12 clock is max for most music. I listen to K701.

I have spent the last couple of days listening to the Solo SRGII driving a pair of Grado RS-1. I wanted to re-aquient myself with this combo and I am glad I did. The sound is very seductive with an occasional wake up when you can not believe how good the combo sounds. For those who might be interested the source is a Monarchy Audio NM24. Cheers.
