I've searched the forum for stuff about record cleaning machines, but could find no reference to the Spin Clean Record Washer System.

Has anyone here used it? It's significantly cheaper than Okkii Nokkis etc, which I certainly couldn't justify purchasing.

A similar device is the Disco-Antistat Record Cleaner at half the price again. Favourable reviews on many Forums, probably worth a try?

Thanks for that. I just searched it out on YouTube. It looks a bit more fiddly that the other one. In the video I watched the guy actually dropped the record when he unscrewed the clamps.

I use a combination of manual washing using Disc Doctor brushes and fluid combined with use of the Knosti trough as a rinse bath and then use the Knosti rack to air dry the cleaned records.

I initially tried the Knosti system but was unhappy with the deposit on records from the antistatic cleaning solution and settled on using the manual wash with bath rinse, followed, after several plays, by an application of Last record preservative.

I have not found it difficult to not drop records when unscrewing the clamp.

While not perhaps as quick as a RCM is seems quite effective to me.

A well cleaned record will noticeably improve in SQ for a number of plays after cleaning, I have both observed this effect and read theory as to why this might be so.  For this reason, I do not apply the Last preservative, which is claimed to harden the record surface against wear, until I have played the record several times after cleaning.  The preservative does improve the SQ, to my hearing, in line with the claims made for the product.  Audibly the effect is exactly what one might expect from the stylus being in contact with a less yielding surface.
