shamu144, over the past 3 years I've had a number of comical avatars selected to draw the readers attention to something. What could that something be?That something has a funny smell - sheep? hens? cows? No! Bulls...! The problem now is that the average hi-fi buyer hasn't much chance of being able to tell the good from the bad. Orwellian double speak is put to great use as you are finding. Everything is holographic, everything is linear - but obviously everything is not as it seems. The post baby boomer generations have little chance of ever being able to get to the truth simply because many in the baby boomer generation decided not to give a damn. The proof? All I know is what's around here in the UK because it's where I live, but what I can see is ugly. Parts of my generation have trashed your life. Where are the apprenticeships? In fact, does anybody understand what the word means? The very word will become myth as tomorrows historians will not have any reference point. No, today you either have a university education or are part of the underworld. What you will eventually see is the prophetic world pictured by Monty Python in the "Bicycle Repair Man" sketch... Younger generations will have to reinvent the world - they'll have to struggle to re-establish the whole infrastructure because some of my generation could not be bothered to hand anything on. They have squandered and wasted their gifts on their own vanity. Just one of a thousand examples: Where are the electronics magazines I used to be able to buy in any village news store? Obviously they've disappeared because they didn't make the big bucks some of my generation lusts after - what a love-less generation! So, you're not going to discover the truths that we should have provided for you with our technological advances - why bother with such advances if they're not going to be handed on? If you're a researcher, which to a degree you are, how do you find "Google search"? Whatever you search for you get commercial results instead of answers! It's all consumerism - buy - buy - buy! I've found that when you do your research - you've worked your brains into the ground - you've made some great discoveries and you put it into action, the birds of prey are all stood around waiting to steal it off you. You don't believe it? Well, let me tell you this. I spent the best part of 2003 researching and working on how to get our PSU1 power supply through the CB (certified body) process so it would be safety approved simply to be able to export it to Canada. Nobody helped me! But the moment I'd received my approval certificate my immediate competitor (a European one) phoned me asking me to help him through the process!!! I said "sorry I'm busy right now - I'll phone you back" and never did! It's that type - the rich spongers - who steal ideas rather than doing their own work - who then get the great write-ups from their magazine cronies - and the big sales, that make people like me think twice about sharing their knowledge and understanding with the younger generations... because they'll (the arseholes of my generation) be skulking around ready to steal it for themselves! That none should be able to park up and enjoy the view without a smartphone and the knowledge in how to use apps
