Good to hear of your, ultimately, happy outcome.

Courier services with hidden charges etc are not peculiar to either the UK or your particular company.

I had an experience here where DHL made a paperwork mistake in overvaluing some speakers. Having to pay the fees first to get my speakers, I succeeded in having the 3rd party customs broker reverse the pricing to the correct amount, but never, despite numerous attempts and communications over 6 months, succeeded in obtaining the $75 refund from DHL who also double dipped on insurance charges, charging both the shipper whom I paid and myself separately.

Still, after all the aggravation subsides, they are great speakers, just like your new cans - enjoy.
