Dear All, Greetings from Wembley UK, on Cup Final Day ... (!!)
I have been enjoying the an ex-demo-from-Walrus-Systems Solo (serial 0906-05... which model is that?) for several weeks now into HD650, RS-1, HD25 and now DT770/80... it is genuinely life enhancing. Thank you!
A new Voyager arrived this morning courtesy of Ian/Audio Elevation - now burning in with DAB/RS-1s. I have searched a fair amount prior to asking these Qs including Graham's post at the start of this year on burn in ...
1. Is it ok just to leave the Solo powered on the whole time?
2. How long will it take for the Voyager to begin to settle down and should I leave the power selector in the battery position by default unless using mains/usb power?
Sorry for the probably dumb Qs...
Cheers
James

Hi
You'll see immediately the family resemblance between me and the man who sold you a voyager!
Yes, leave the Solo powered up all the time. If not, you're just plain missin' out.
Graham and John C have heard stories (they'll correct me if I'm talking out of turn) of up to 400 hours of burn in. I wouldn't say that was my personal experience when a Voyager came my way when it was first released. I did experience occasions when it sounded distinctly different to when I last heard it. Remember that I'm using it twice a day - on the way into work and on the way home. Sometimes it could change for better or worse from morning to evening - slightly strange but never more than that.
Don't leave it in battery position or you're using the battery. If it's not plugged into anything and the red light is on, you're using battery power!
Easiest way to run it in is to leave the DAB on and use the mains wall wart supplied for power at this stage. GS and John C can tell you all about the downside of using the mains (RFI etc) and how using the battery to power it (DC therefore none of the AC interference problems) but, for running in, what do you care?
When it's run in and you're ready for serious listening, definitely use the battery power! £2 approx and 50 hours (I'm sure that it's way more than that in practice) is a cheap way to experience the Voyager. Let us know what you think of it.
Thanks for buying from us and for becoming part of this community. Welcome aboard.
