When I worked at the bench (an engineering work bench), a colleague (no it wasn't a Supermarket work bench...) who was in a rock group (weren't they all?) mentioned an item called an "evergreen". Naive, I hadn't a clue what he was talking about.

He proceded to explain: 'an evergreen is a cheap gift given away to promote a product or service, or a goodwill offering as a way of saying thank you for your custom'

For years that thought kept recurring in my mind: just what could I give to my customers as a way of saying thank you?

It would need to be something useful - something that served a purpose - something hopefully helpful.

What about giving them an owners club? But they're not cheap I thought. They are quite costly, not only in setting up, but mainly in the cost of managing it.

So, around the beginning of 2008 I set it up and here it is.

Charity begins at home?

And this type is not tax deductible my accountant advises me.

Graham,

I do hope this is not what is keeping you awake at night!

For what it's worth, I have found this forum to be extremely useful, informative and friendly. Your contribution may not be tax deductible but it is highly valued

What may be causing you some angst is that with over 400 members there appears to be a lack of activity at times. I for one do hope that this will not persuade you to think that this evergreen is not appreciated. (Are sales holding up? That's a rhetorical question, no need to give away commercial info )

Don't know about you but I am going back to bed now!

Cheers

Les

Nope. Gluten intollerance is though....

Can only put it down to some chemical used in the dentist's needle - I'm otherwise OK, apart from the accute fibromyalgia that usually keeps me up at other hours.

But that's me all over as the scarecrow said...Wink

Sales OK too - slightly above target... so far.

Can't remember why I started this thread now Confused
