Everybody,
 
Still on the subject of tracking and bias, lately I've been considering trying a linear tracker in the future- I've used radial designs for more than thirty years now, and I feel very curious about the other options. Has anybody had experiences with linear trackers that he/she would care to comment on?

No, but linear trackers (also known as tangential tonearms) are the ultimate solution and the theoretically most ideal. Only a linear tracker can guarantee a correct reading of the record groove. Radial tonearms, even 12" long ones, suffer from some amount of tracing error.

Quite right AK. Plus no side-force and correct tracking of end of side tracks... very tempting. I have been reading about set up and resonance and once again been wondering about the Clearaudio Tangent, their linear entry model... If I had the cash, I'd try it.Wink
