I thought I'd resurrect this thread by mentioning a budget version of Holst's Planets. No doubt classical folk here will have many versions, but it seems to me that this one is always under the radar - George Hurst conducting the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on the super budget label Contour. To my mind this is a recording and performance that could have easily graced a full-priced major label and held its own against the Boult/Previn/Mehta/Solti/Steinberg brigade.
