Folk who've been round here for a bit probably know me as a bit of cartridge magpie, especially of NOS carts. For a long while I've been after a Yamaha MC-1 - after reading the info flyer released at the time (early 80s). The tapered beryllium tube cantilever always sounded like it needed a good listen to . . . Wink

Well I finally got hold of one - an integrated headshell version, that I'll use on my vintage Kenwood KD7010 turntable (when it gets out of storage in a few weeks). It looks unused - there's no tell-tale dust round the cantilever area, and if the cartridge suspension is ok I'm hoping for great things.

Yamaha carts never seemed to have the same buzz about them that the top end Technics carts had, which may be the reason I picked this up for (what I considered) a very reasonable price - certainly worth a punt.

More on this when it's in use and run in. Meanwhile some photos and a link to the interesting (to me, at any rate) Yamaha sales flyer are here . . .

Now if I could only find a Yamaha PX-2 turntable to put it on. Wink
