I have been given a small valve amplifier that uses a single valve in place of an op-amp.
There is no sheilding at all around the amp, (ie a metal case), as the amp is placed in a perspex sandwich. As you can guess i get a bit of interference, more that i would get from a Solo. I would think this is due to the lack of sheilding arround the amp. Having looked at other valve amps none of them appear to have sheilded tubes. Does anyone have any experience with valves and interference problems? thanks Andy |

Because it is so s*xy to expose er*ct valves, there is no shielding.
In the boring old past valves were not seen because they were housed behind a metal mesh or louvred enclosure that provided shielding whilst still allowing cooling. Just what can be done? Nothing. It's a case of ornamental value. "all is vanity and vexation of spirit" |
