Recently I have been enjoying a pair of GS Spatia cables on loan.

They have replaced, for the period of the loan, a pair of Van Den Hul Clearwater silver coated cables that I have used for some time.

First impressions excellent construction – cables housed in quality sheath terminated with gold banana plugs. The same very high quality as the excellent Deze headphone cable I use with my Audeze LCD-2s .

In Hi fi everything matters so I played through a consistent collection of sources and components cabled with GS Lautus and Libran using the excellent Majestic as a hub.

Immediately after plugging in the Spatia Cables I noticed the presentation of an expanded soundstage with each element of the soundscape having it’s own space but representing a coherent whole. I experienced a real 3D effect on many pieces that I played. I could close my eyes and forget the speakers were there.

That said implementing these cables really made my Spendor A7 speakers “sing” (that is the only way I can express it)  – the cables are just so musical and have a really natural presentation of the musical content (both vocal and instrumental) they were fed. The cables did not get in the way and reflected well recorded  content and the intentions of the producers.

Conscious of psycho acoustic effects I A/B tested the Spatia Cables against my existing cables diligently playing through a variety of genres and formats (Vinyl, CD, TIDAL stream) of musical content. The contrast was clear switching back to the Van Den Hul lost the sound quality was flat in comparison and a little distant, whereas the Spatias invited me in to the soundstage and provided an immersive experience.

After (obligatory / enjoyable) airings of Pink Floyd (Meddle, DSOTM, Wish you were Here, Animals, The Wall, Delicate Sound of Thunder) and Dire Straits (Debut,Communique, Making Movies, Love Over Gold, Alchemy Brothers in Arms, On Every Street) I moved on to playing other material (necessarily via TIDAL streaming through my Lindemann Bridge 2 and Majestic).

A sample of these were

ToolChoclate Trip Trick from the “Fear Innoculum” album – the Spatia cables really reflected the all-immersive nature of the track with separated instruments cleanly appearing and traversing all areas of my sizeable listening room(5*5 metres).

Fink  - Wheels Turn Beneath my Feet – his European tour Live album from 2012 – very atmospheric with clear instrument separation and the impression that you are there in the audience at those theatres. Particularly impressive on the tracks Warm Shadow and Sort of Revolution.

Cassandra Wilson played tracks from Belly of the  Sun recorded back in Missisipi and Glamored (the cover of Dylan’s Lay Lady Lay is particularly impressive).

Eagles Hell Freezes Over – a well recorded live set from the later period sounded very impressive through the Spatia cables.

Sarah BareillesBrave Enough – Live at the Variety Playhouse – an atmospheric recording made at what I am told by a professional musician acquaintance of mine is a “interesting shaped” venue.

Jimi HendrixElectric Ladyland and Band of Gypsies albums – pushing the boundaries instruments and acoustics fabulous sound.

Moving to a little Classical …

Max RichterOn the Nature of Daylight and Vivaldi Four Seasons

Rounding off with The Academy of Ancient Music (on Vinyl) through the Accession M ..

Handel The Water Music

Vivaldi - The Four Seasons

Well that was an indulgence! And thank you for indulging me!

Yes the Spatia Cables really enhanced my listening experience and brought out the best from my equipment and content presented.

With a heavy heart I have returned these excellent cables to John C with great thanks as ever and consider ordering my own pair.

In short Highly recommended.

I'm pleased the Spatia cables worked well in your system as they did in mine.
