This will be short because I am not very good at writing
reviews of audio equipment. After my Graham Slee Reflex preamp arrived
last week, I now have the following configuration:
*Audio-Technica AT150MLX phonograph cartridge (moving magnet type with 4 mV output) *Pro-Ject RPM4 LP player *Graham Slee Era Gold Reflex *Technics SA-DX940 amplifier *Infinity Kappa 70 speakers I like to consider myself an audiophile but I don't have audiophile ears. I often don't hear much difference between various pieces of HiFi gear, but this time I can safely say that the Reflex is a very big improvement over the built-in phono preamp of my Technics SA-DX940 amplifier. The biggest difference I hear is in the resolution. I am hearing details now which I did not hear before. My LPs now sound more alive and much more exciting. The Reflex makes my modest configuration sound like a real high-end system. In fact, the Reflex is twice as expensive as my Technics amplifier. In the future I will be upgrading my system and the Reflex is the only component that will stay. Compared to what I had before, I am genuinely impressed and pleased with the Reflex. |

Hi Analog Kid I too am impressed by this little Reflex.
FWIW here's my short review. My Reflex is 2 weeks old now and has been connected to the mains supply and source since its arrival. I've been away from home in those weeks so when I arrived back I sat in front of my system with a large measure of my favourite malt. John Martyn ‘Solid Air’ was the first to be played. My senses where instantly charged I had chills running through my body, the release of being home again after a 300 mile drive and being relaxed by the whiskey was not the cause, it was the music. Never have I hear the album sound this way, the bass player was front and centre the guitar strings reverberating round my head, this was amazing, the vocals where eerily real. A few times I had to check over my shoulder to see if someone was their, the harmonics were playing tricks on my hearing. By the second track ‘Over the hill’ I was close to tears of joy. To get a chance to connect to the music like this has happened way to few times in my life and certainly one I have reached for when purchasing Hi-Fi products. This is the single most impressive purchase I have ever made to my Hi-Fi system. I’ll say it again I have never heard music sound so good not even when I’ve been sitting in a demo room listen to an unattainable setup in a dealers shop. Without over-thinking this one Mr Graham Slee has created something very special. Thank you. |

I should mention: the Reflex is the first time I have ever owned the top model in a company's product line. Everything I have ever had in terms of audio components up until now, has always been in the low end of the product line-up. So with the Reflex I now have the best GSP Audio has to offer.

Beg, steal or borrow, you must try this pre-amp before purching a turn table, there I said it!
