I stand corrected on the Zu s. Sounds like the Proprius should be an excellent match.

It's capable of giving you chills. I have YouTube premium, so optical out from TV into Majestic, Majestic to Proprius to Aria 906's. Volume @ 20 to O'Clock
Phil Collin's In the Air Tonight, it grabs your attention, I know this song but I'm hearing it a bit more, I imagine I'm hearing his feet shuffling on the drum kicks. Alizée - J'en Ai Marre!, far fresher production but at the opening, the guitar plucks jump out - little details you've overlooked previously. Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin - expansive energy, it feels wide but energetic Luke Kelly, Scorn not his Simplicity, it's the closest you'll ever get to sitting in that bar. Luke's vocals always have your attention but as the other musicians come in and out you feel the sympathico. Warpaint, Burgundy, listen to a band peaking as a unit. It's slow but building, feel the momentum growing. Deep Purple - Child in Time (live BBC studio 1970)- put a blindfold on and let the Majestic and Proprius take you on a musical roller-coaster (still at 20 to O'clock), no detail overlooked but the energy filling the room even at a low volume. Lanterns on the Lake - Sapsorrow - sit beside Hazel Wilde at the piano and listen to sounds coming out of instruments that feel outerworldly or try Ships in the Rain and hear every intake of breath, every sweep of the violin bow on the guitar. This band is unusual as they seem to fill the air of my room with different sounds and have it hang there. I've also heard them on an Onkyo 9010 (good budget amp) and the complexity of the various instruments overwhelmed it and it sounded mushy. Could be that they're Newcastle based so in the GS neighborhood? 🙂 So what do they sound like? Whatever the artist wants you to hear but with every detail there to find, on the Aria's it feels expansive, can do low and slow but can turn up the energy in a blink of the eye. So faithful but expansive staging, power to spare, absolutely in control. Edited by robbiec - 08 May 2025 at 11:24pm |
