Hi all.

Having been really pleased with my Era V Gold phono amp, I have just bought a 2nd hand Solo hp amp (an older model i suspect).

I have it connected (Input 1) to the fixed output of my Cyrus Classic amp. First off, it sounds absolutely great! Huge improvement over the Cyrus inbuilt headphone output, and brings my Sennheiser HD650s alive. Id always been a bit underwhelmed with them, but not any more!

I have nothing connected to Input 2 of the Solo, so in theory, there should be no output if Input 2 is selected? However, when i do, i get the same output as #1, but it seems with a noticeably boosted bass and treble (similar overall volume)... A bit like the Loudness button you would get on amps back in the 90s (again, sounds great).

Also, when the input selector is set to mute, the unaltered output from #1 continues (not an issue).

So no complaints at all, just wondering if this is how it should operate, or if perhaps it might have been modded? It was a third party seller, so they probably don't know the background history, and i haven't opened it up to look inside.

Thanks!

As built the middle position of the switch is unconnected to the inputs so there should be no sound in the headphones. I agree with your reasoning that you shouldn't hear input 1 with the switch on 2, and not a filtered version. Curious...
