Hello everyone,

Thank you for permitting me to join the forum.

I’m John and I’m based in East Anglia, UK. At present I don’t own any Graham Slee products, but I’ve joined the forum to learn and to explore ways of extracting the best possible performance from the analogue front end I already have, which I have to say, I’m very happy with.

My main source is a 1992 L*nn Sondek LP12, fitted with SRM Tech upgrades, a Hercules II power supply, L*nn Trampolin base, and an Audio Origami–serviced and rewired L*nn Akito Mk1 tonearm. The cartridge currently in use is a Lyra Dorian moving coil, though I have a small number of other cartridges both MM & MC.

Phono amplification is handled by an Angle Audio battery-powered MC phono stage. From there the signal feeds AVi ADM9.1 active loudspeakers, supported in the low frequencies by a BK Electronics XLS200DF subwoofer. Digital playback exists but is secondary; vinyl is the primary focus of the system. I still collect records and have a sizeable collection, including mono pressings, 60s,70s,80s 90s releases and modern ‘collectors’ pressings.

My listening covers classical,  jazz, rock, soundtrack and electronic / ambient music. My interests are firmly centred on cartridge loading, gain structure, system matching, and setup decisions that have demonstrable impact on musical performance rather than on specification chasing.

I’ve joined the forum because of its reputation for engineering-led discussion and careful listening, and I’m hoping to learn how others approach optimising analogue replay in real systems.

Best regards, John.
