Hello, Well, here it is, my first post on the forum. Around 18 months ago I stepped back into the world of vinyl records after a 20-odd year hiatus, having left my hand-me-down turntable and modest record collection in the UK following a move overseas. Fast forward to 2024 and a third relocation, this time to Kuala Lumpur, where I was rather excited to meet and join a small and eclectic vinyl loving community in an effort to make new connections. Since then I have re-discovered so much fantastic music, and crucially discovered some wonderful sounds that had never been on my radar before (hello Yellow Magic Orchestra, Akikio Yano and Logic System!). And then came the inevitable ever growing urge to build a sound system from which to play my steadily growing record collection. As I guess many reading this post may attest; this is a slippery slope that is fascinating, occasionally mind-bending, hugely rewarding and, of course, almost impossible to climb out of! Today I placed an order for my very first Graham Slee product; the Accession (M) phono stage with the much lauded PSU1 Enigmapower supply*. It will sit neatly between my Denon DP-3000NE turntable / Denon DL-110 HOMC cartridge and Yamaha A-S1200 integrated amplifier, which in-turn powers B&W 606 stand-mounted speakers**. I chose the Accession following copious amounts of research (all part of the fun!), both online and via a test-run by way of a lucky interaction with a fellow music lover at work. My research also included scouring these very pages for insights, perspectives and ideas, all of which - in addition to some welcome support from John Cadman via email - led to my decision. I was keen to add this post to highlight the value of (and thank contributors to) this forum. I also wanted to make reference to the high quality of service and kindness offered by John at Graham Slee, in the hope it will reassure anyone new to this hobby and reading it, that it’s ok to reach-out for advice. The world of audio can be both an overwhelming and daunting space, and a few kind words and reassuring comments go a long way - this has been my experience and I wanted to share it. Well, that was more than I expected to write, but there we are. I look forward to reporting back, once I’m all set-up in a few weeks time! Take care, Adam *is it normal that I have already foreseen the Elevator EXP as part of my audio future, when the time comes to explore the world of LOMC cartridges!? And don’t get me started on cables! **I’ve noticed that people often share their set-ups, to help bring context to their posts/questions. |

Thank you for the replies!
I have a question on cables (of course I have!). Any thoughts/advice/suggestions respectfully and gratefully appreciated. I have good quality RCA interconnects good to go, for the following;
However, I am considering upgrading to the CuSat50 for Accession to amp (150cm) and the Lautus from amp to the streamer (likely 200cm). I suppose my questions are; (a) am I over egging this and should I go with what I’ve got for now (Chord C-Line)? and (b) if it’s worth considering the upgraded cables, have I selected wisely? There is a method (and research) to my suggestion, but I would appreciate your perspectives. I have abandoned thoughts of an XLR / RCA run from the Eversolo to the Amp, as I can’t uncover a strong benefit to this, but again your thoughts are welcome. Thank you, Adam |
