Hi everyone,
I've built my Novo headphones amp a few months ago but it wasn't until last week that i had the occasion to use it with a newly bought pair of Denon D7000. The sound is pretty good but after a week of burning i still have some statics on the lower high frequencies range and i'd like to know if this is something i could have caused by misoldering some piece of electronics... I also noticed that my front panel led isn't working : could it be related ? Is the led polarized (i didn't try to invert it yet) ? Thanks for helping me. I would re-check all of your solder joints. If in doubt re-flow them.

I will be doing a few tweaks on the Novo in the new year including a grounding mod but I'm not sure if this will be the solution here.
For anybody contemplating building a kit my advice is to be extremely diligent with every single part, as every bit of a circuit design plays a proper role in the performance ability of a design. However, the LED being out because of being inserted wrongly should have no bearing on the sound. In the old days of the 70's there were proper electronics magazines that could be bought off the shelves of even the smallest village store - they taught the subject well. I'm afraid it is a sign of our times that these publications either no longer exist, or can only be found in a few large branches of major newsagents by those prepared to scour their shelves. Even though I was apprentice trained in soldering (amongst many other skills), those old magazines were still very useful in teaching the correct technique, often teaching tips the training instructor had neglected because of the pressures of the day (or him having a stropp with the missus...). If there were only time or if somebody could provide me with an income so I could drop my current tasks and concentrate on educating people in construction techniques instead, then it would be an ideal world, wouldn't it? The difficulty many find themselves in is because we live in a world that forgot that it needed to hand down skills, but that isn't in the book of Revelation that tg eluded to in another post but in the foundation book of Deuteronomy... All you need do is look at Canary Wharf as the glaring example of replacing solid practices with a bubble of useless f*rts! And at No.10 Downing Street and Buck House!... |

If you don't let the magic smoke out and the static goes away and it sounds good, then it is good. |
