Just a note about the new Voyager...
I've had the Voyager for a couple of months now and it is used every day. Not sure about the 50 hour battery life - I'm still on the original battery! Using it with ipod nano and ipod classic with Sony earbuds. I've also tried with the Grado S325i (contour turned off) with solid results. With the earbuds (contour on), the bass is unbelievable. You need to try it to believe it. Problem is, that leads to wanting one! If you're local (South Yorkshire) I'm happy for you to listen to mine if we can arrange it.
I get quite a few "What's that?" remarks and I try to be nice but it's falling on a lot of deaf ears I think.
Proper hi fi on the move. Nice touch.
If there is interest in the Voyager, I'm happy to say more about it. Has anyone else heard it yet?

Yes I've heard one, remarkable little amp for sure!
It drove an old pair of 600ohm Sen headphones quite well too |

So am I. The little Voyager is really efficient. On the move, I am using the Voyager with a pair of ER-4S.
They have a great synergy together especially with the contour switch turned on. It
adds just the right amount of bass the Etys normally lack. At the home, it can
drive my Beyer DT880 quite good as well. Still, the use of the contour switch depends
here of the type of music: Keith Jarrett does not sound so good with it, Daft Punk on the other side is godly. Edited by Saso - 16 Jan 2008 at 8:18am |

Purely out of interest, I bought a Keith Jarret " Best Of " LP on Monday. Piano does sound good through the Intro. Gyro Dec, Tecnoarm and Goldring 1042 in front!
Sadly, not my type of music though ! But that piano is impressive!
Adrian.

I agree Saso - the contour is ON when you're on the move. At home with the Grado SR325i, contour is OFF. The only problem there is that I actually feel like I'm missing out on a little oomph when compared to the earbuds. That's not a criticism of the Voyager when used with full range headphones, just testament to how good music can sound on the move if something is designed properly - even when you only use tiny headphones. Of course, I could also listen to the Solo if I wanted to..he hee. |
